How do I record expenses and receipts?

Add an expense by hand, photograph a receipt, or tell Pulse. Recurring bills are posted for you on their due date.

Step by step

  1. Open Money → Expenses → Add an expense · expense book, or click New in the top bar and choose "Expense".
  2. Choose how to add it: "Photograph a receipt" (the AI reads it and fills it in), "Tell Pulse", or "Manual expense".
  3. For a manual expense, fill in the supplier and the amount, which are required, then the date, category, type and any notes. You can attach a receipt.
  4. Click "Save".
  5. If you photographed a receipt, open "Receipts Pulse read", check what the AI read, and click "Approve" (or "Reject").

A photographed receipt does not count in your books until you approve it. The number on the button shows how many are waiting, and they also appear in "Waiting for me".

The quickest way is to tell Pulse, for example "I paid 120 for packaging". Pulse records it, and there is an undo button.

Recurring bills

Open Money → Expenses → Recurring bills for bills that repeat, such as a software subscription or rent. Give it a name, amount, how often it repeats and the billing day. Each charge is posted to the expense book by itself on the day it is billed. A charge with no amount is not posted, and the screen suggests expenses a store like yours probably has. Deleting a recurring bill keeps the charges already posted.

Avoid counting something twice

The expense book can be filtered by month, category, type and source (manual, recurring or photographed receipt). Your plan includes a monthly number of receipts the AI can scan.

Questions

Can I record an expense in another currency?

Yes. Choose the currency and enter the rate. A recurring charge in another currency is posted at the rate you entered.

A receipt was read wrong. What now?

Check it in "Receipts Pulse read" before approving. You can reject it, or approve it and edit the expense afterwards.
