Where do I see my revenue and real profit?
The Money area shows what you sold, what it cost and what is left. Learn what each screen counts and why costs matter.
Open Money in the menu. It has four parts: Summary, Revenue, Profit (Real profit, By month, By product) and Expenses. Everything is worked out from your orders and expenses, so nothing is typed twice.
What counts as revenue
- Only orders that are paid and not cancelled. Test orders never count.
- In a US store, sales tax you collected is not revenue. It is owed to the states and is shown separately.
Revenue
Money → Revenue shows how much you sold over a period you pick, compared with the period before it: revenue, orders, average order value, conversion rate (the share of visitors who bought), visitors and units sold. Charts show revenue over time, visitor to order, where buyers came from, new versus returning customers, revenue by weekday, top products and the discount codes shoppers used.
Real profit
Money → Profit → Real profit shows what is left after product cost, shipping, card fees, advertising and running expenses. It also shows the profit margin, and how many months of your fixed monthly cost the profit covers. A chart called "From what to what" walks from what customers paid to the profit.
Note Real profit is only as real as your costs. If a product has no cost, no report can say profit, only revenue. The screen lists what is missing; "Fill in the costs" takes you to Store → Product costs, where you enter what you pay your supplier for one unit.
- By month: a month-by-month table of income, cancellations, goods, shipping, fees, advertising, fixed costs and net profit.
- By product: what each product earns, with the actual multiplier against your target. A product below target is red, and "Cost missing" marks products with no cost. The multiplier is the price per unit divided by product cost plus supplier shipping.
Summary
Money → Summary shows the year at a glance: revenue, net profit and margin for the month, a chart of revenue against expenses by month, a breakdown of expenses, and the download for your accountant. See export reports.
Taxes in the summary
- US: the summary shows sales tax collected this year, by state, as money you owe the states and not as income. It also shows a tax reserve: a share of your net profit to put aside for estimated taxes, using the percentage you set in the tax settings.
- Israel: the summary follows your business type (exempt dealer, VAT-registered dealer or limited company). For an exempt dealer it shows the yearly turnover ceiling and how far you are from it. VAT is taken out of revenue for a VAT-registered dealer.
You set the business type, tax reserve and sales tax once, under Settings → Payments and tax → Tax settings. The figures are planning aids, not tax advice. Check them with your accountant.
Tip You can also just ask Pulse, for example "How much did I sell this week?".
Questions
Why does an order not appear in revenue?
Revenue counts only paid orders that are not cancelled, and never test orders. An unpaid or cancelled order is left out.
Why does profit say a cost is missing?
A product has no cost entered. Add it under Store → Product costs so profit can be worked out.
