How do I manage my images and videos?
Upload files, add alt text, see where each picture is used, and clean out what you no longer need.
Step by step
- Open Store → Images and videos.
- Click "+ Upload images", drag files onto the window, or paste a screenshot.
- Click a file and then "Details" to add a name, tags and alt text.
- Use the tabs "All", "In use" and "Not in use", or the search box, to find a file. Search works on name, description, tag or the place it is used.
The top of the screen shows how many files you have, their total size and how many are unused. Every file shows where it appears on the store, or "Used nowhere".
Alt text
Alt text is a short description of what the picture shows. Screen readers read it aloud and Google reads it. It is saved on the picture, so it applies everywhere the picture appears. Unlike the name and tags, it does affect your store.
Clearing out unused files
Click "Show what is unused", select files and delete them. Deleting cannot be undone. If a picture is still used somewhere, Waise warns you before deleting, because deleting it would break that place.
Tip To replace a picture, upload the new one and choose it where the old one was used. The "Details" panel shows where the old one appears.
Questions
Can I upload videos?
Yes, videos. You can upload images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, SVG) up to 15 MB each and videos (MP4, WebM, MOV) up to 200 MB each.
Does the file name matter?
The name only helps you search. It does not change the store. Alt text does.
