How do I improve how my store shows on Google?

Fill in the title and description Google shows for each page, product and article, and spot the ones that are missing or too long.

Step by step

  1. Open Marketing → Google search (SEO).
  2. Check the counts at the top: how many addresses there are, how many are fully set, and how many are missing a title or description or too long.
  3. Click the "Missing" filter. You can also filter by products, pages, articles or categories, or search by name or address.
  4. Click a row and fill in "Title" (up to about 60 characters) and "Meta description" (up to about 155).
  5. Click "Save". Repeat with the "Too long" filter.

SEO means making a page show up well in search results. The title and description are the lines people read in Google before they decide to click.

Tip An empty field breaks nothing. Google uses the page name and picks a passage from the page by itself. Write your own for the pages that matter most.

Telling Google the site is yours

In Google Search Console, choose the "HTML tag" method and paste the code (or the whole tag) into "Google ownership verification" on this screen. Click Save, then click verify in Search Console. Waise builds your sitemap and robots.txt for you.

Questions

How long until Google shows my change?

Google updates on its own schedule, usually days to weeks. Saving here changes the store at once.
