How do I use the store editor?
Build and edit the strips (sections) of every page, preview on desktop, tablet and phone, and publish when you are ready.
Step by step
- Open Store → Design → Store editor.
- Use the page picker at the top ("Choose a page to edit") to open the home page, a product page, a category, the blog and more.
- In the section list, drag to reorder, duplicate or delete. Click "Add a section to…" to open the library, with search and preview.
- Click a section to change its text, pictures and colors in the settings panel.
- Switch between desktop, tablet and phone to check each size.
- Click "Publish" when you are happy. To throw away unpublished changes, click "Discard draft".
Every page is built from sections, strips stacked one below the other: a banner, benefits, reviews, FAQ and so on. Each page has three parts: the header (the top, on every page), the page body, and the footer (the bottom, on every page).
Draft and publish
- Every change saves by itself as a draft. The top bar says your work is saved as a draft and the store changes only when you publish.
- "Publish" makes the header, body and footer live together.
- A change to the header or footer appears on every page.
- On a product page, a change to a shared template changes every product that uses it. For one product’s design, make a new page template.
Other things in the toolbar
- Undo and redo (the arrows, or the usual keyboard shortcuts).
- Saved versions: click "Save current version" before a big change, and restore the whole design to a saved version later.
- "Site style" opens the colors, fonts and logo for the whole site. See colors, fonts and logo.
- "Ask Pulse" lets you ask for help with the page you are on. Pulse can also build a section as a draft for you to review.
Tip Changed something and cannot see it on the live store? You probably have not clicked "Publish" yet.
Questions
How is this different from "Theme and style"?
"Theme and style" picks a ready-made look. The store editor changes the sections of individual pages. They work on the same draft.
Can I go back to an earlier design?
Yes, if you saved a version. Open the saved versions list and click restore. Your current saved changes are replaced.
