How do I send abandoned-cart emails?
Turn on a reminder, or a three-step sequence, for shoppers who left their details and did not pay. It stops by itself when they buy.
Step by step
- Make sure outgoing email is set up. Open Marketing → Automatic mail → By order stage and check the "Email" card says "Configured".
- Open Marketing → Automatic mail → Custom flows and go to the "Rule gallery".
- Add "Cart recovery in three steps", or the single rule "Abandoned cart: reminder after an hour".
- Under "My rules", open each step to read and edit the subject and wording. Keep the {{checkout_url}} link and the product cards in the text.
- The first time, if there are recent carts from before you switched the rule on, Waise asks "Send to N recent carts?". Click "Send" or "Skip".
What the sequence does
- About an hour after the shopper left: a reminder with the products and a link straight back to checkout.
- A day later: a personal 10% discount code.
- Three days later: a last reminder that the cart and the code are still there.
The sequence stops by itself when the shopper buys.
Who gets it
- Only shoppers who typed an email address at checkout and agreed to marketing email. A reminder is a marketing email, so it never goes to someone who did not agree.
- Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Only carts left within a window are chased. The default is the last 72 hours. Change it under "Abandoned-cart window": 24 hours, 72 hours, 7 days or your own number of hours. Older carts get no reminder.
Following up by hand
Sales → Open payments → Abandoned carts lists every shopper who left details, with the value at risk, a "Payment link" you can copy and a note and follow-up date. It shows who agreed to marketing email. You can also reach out yourself, for example by phone or WhatsApp.
Tip Pulse counts a purchase as recovered only after a reminder was really sent. See what "Waise earns you" counts.
Questions
Why are no reminders going out?
The usual reasons: outgoing email is not set up, the rule is switched off, the shopper did not agree to marketing email, or the cart is older than your window.
Can I see what each rule did?
Yes. The "Run log" tab lists each run, who it was for and what was done or why it was skipped.
