How do I ask Pulse to do something?

Open Pulse, write what you need, read the before-and-after card, approve it, and undo it if you change your mind.

Step by step

  1. Open Pulse from any admin screen, or press ⌘ and period on a Mac (Ctrl and period on Windows). To use the whole screen, press "Open full screen".
  2. Write what you need in the box that says "Write to Pulse… (Enter to send)". Enter sends, and Shift with Enter starts a new line.
  3. Leave "Pulse sees the current screen" ticked if you want it to know what you are looking at. Untick it above the box if you would rather it did not.
  4. Read the answer. If your request changes money or something a shopper sees, Pulse shows a before-and-after card marked "Waiting for your approval" and does nothing yet.
  5. Press "Approve and apply" to go ahead, or "Not now" to leave things as they are.
  6. To take a change back, press "Undo change" on its card, or write "undo the last change".

Pulse is the assistant inside your admin. You talk to it in everyday language and it finds the screen, the product and the numbers itself. It covers more than 80 actions across the store: sales and profit, orders, customers and leads, products and stock, prices and discounts, expenses and receipts, content and SEO, reviews, and sections on your site.

What needs your approval

Anything that touches money or that shoppers see, such as a price, a discount, cancelling an order or publishing, is shown first as a card and happens only after you approve. Small records, such as an order note, a tracking number or an expense in the book, happen at once and are logged.

Pulse works within your role. If your role does not allow a change, the card says "You don't have permission to make this change."

Undoing a change

Every change Pulse makes is logged, and most can be undone. Press "Undo change" on its card, or press "Undo this turn" to put back everything Pulse did in that one reply. You can also ask Pulse to list its recent changes and pick one. A change that cannot be taken back, such as an email that already went to a customer, is marked "Can't be undone" before you approve it.

Other things you can do in the box

Tip When Pulse takes you through a screen with its own cursor, it stops and asks before any press that shoppers see or that cannot be undone.

Questions

Does Pulse change things without asking me?

Not the ones that matter. Money and anything shoppers see wait for your approval. Small records happen at once and are logged, so you can see them and undo most of them.

What if Pulse does not solve my problem?

You can hand the conversation to a person on the Waise team. See Talk to a person.

Can everyone on my team use Pulse?

Yes, unless the owner turns it off for the team. Each person is limited by their own role.
