How do I add sizes or colors and track stock?

Add options such as size or color, set a price and stock for each combination, and turn on Count stock to stop selling when you run out.

Step by step

  1. Open the product and find the Price, cost and stock card.
  2. Choose Add options like size or color. Give the option a name, for example Size, and type its values, separated by commas.
  3. Choose Another option for a second one, such as Color. A product can have up to three options.
  4. Waise lists every combination. Set the Price, Cost per unit and SKU of each, or use Update several variants at once to set one value for all of them.
  5. To count stock, turn on Count stock under Who ships the product. A Stock field appears for each combination. Enter the quantities.
  6. Choose Save, or Publish if the product is still a draft.

A variant is one version of a product that a shopper can choose, such as a medium red shirt. Each variant has its own price, cost, SKU and stock. A product can have up to 3 options and up to 100 combinations.

Count stock or sell without a limit

Find products that are running low

In Store → Products, choose Low stock. It lists products that count stock and have 10 units or fewer. Dropshipped products are not counted, because the supplier holds their stock.

When a product sells out

Cancelling an order puts its units back on the shelf, for products that count stock.

Note Archived options that old orders refer to are kept out of sight. Adding the value back restores them.

Questions

Can I give each color its own photo?

Yes. Under the options, An image per variant lets you pick a photo for a combination. It follows the item into the cart and checkout, so the shopper sees what they chose.
